LIVE MUSIC, GREAT LUNCH, ORGANIC PRODUCE, AND MORE!
The 8th Annual OZ Farm Harvest Festival, held Saturday, September 30, 2006, benefited the Arena Renaissance Company, a non-profit which owns the wonderful Point Arena Theater, and the Manchester School Park Garden Project that's transforming the area behind the school into a combination garden and natural area. There was continuous live music throughout the day on the Barn Stage from a stellar line-up of musicians. The Loose Licks Jug Band (with their inimitable and wonderfully entertaining repertoire); The Freys Music (Dan, Sam and Adam Frey from Redwood Valley); Texas Jon (from Point Arena); OTIS, Jake Stillman and his band; IncogNEATo (with a lot of original material), and the OZ Farm Tabernacle Choir--all entertained the largest crowd yet for this annual festival.
Chef Aaron Peters once again wielded the spatula behind the grill of the no-host buffet, cooking up herb and garlic marinated chicken from OZ Farm and lamb from nearby Biaggi Ranch. Pat Cordrey and OZ Farm interns provided an elaborate salad bar, including mixed greens, pesto pasta salad, potato salad, marinated beet salad and cole slaw. Chris Noll again headed up a baking team to make his now famous apple pies using OZ Farm apples. Also provided were no-host beer and wine, an organic produce market that included fresh-pressed Pink Pearl apple juice, and fun activities for children. The Festival was supported in 2006 by Bonterra Vineyards. |
